Features the band play on top of a very tall building on a very hot summers day overlooking Hollywood, the video cuts constantly to the back of a cab with very strange consequences. Lookalikes of The White Stripes, The Hives, and others are seen indulging in all sorts of strange behaviour. At the end of the video the cab screeches to a stop, and American comic Andy Dick turns around to all four members of Ash, and screams “You need to get the hell out of my cab”, Ash looked shocked, and quickly hurry out.
Ash reflect on the video
Ash perform on top of a Hollywood highrise and take some wild L.A. cabs rides with Andy Dick. More look-a-likes in this video with tongue in cheek references to The White Stripes and our pals The Hives. The record company were originally scared by the gay kissing and wanted an edit. We stuck to our guns and MTV had this in high rotation for some time! A small victory.
Mark Hamilton on the concept of the video
The Envy video was shot 2 days ago in LA, we preformed on top of a building over looking hollywood, it was scorching and everyone got burnt to a crisp. It also had cameo’s from Andy Dick the American comic who is an extremely irate cab driver after we all drive him nuts, driving us about with, strippers, rent boys, The Hives, Britney Spears, and The White Stripes. Yes it’s gonna be quite a mental video.
