Review
This was the second of two dates at the MEN as Ash supported The Darkness. Ash came on just after 7:30pm. I was quite disappointed with the size of the crowd,the whole of the upper tier of the arena wasn’t used so the arena was probably about half full. “Meltdown” was SO loud when they came on. Fantastic! It was basically a greatest hits show, with the inclusion of “Oh Yeah” being a highlight for me as they didn’t play it in Liverpool when I saw them in May. “Kung Fu” stood out as well and “Starcrossed” was better than I’ve heard it before. Tim and Charlotte’s vocals were very strong and Rick’s drumming was also excellent. It would appear that “Evil Eye” will be a single if they choose to release another from Meltdown, although that might depend on how “Renegade Cavlcade” fares. It was strange watching Ash as a support band and obviously the majority had come to see The Darkness but they were superb and I hope it’s not too long before I see them again. Burn baby burn!
