Review
I saw Ash for the first time and was duly impressed with what I witnessed. Though I’ve been a fan for years, I’d somehow managed to miss them any time that they came to town. After last night, I must make sure not to miss them again!
A good crowd was out for the gig, though a fair amount of people left after the Bravery had finished their set. It was there loss as not only did they miss a great set by Ash, but missed seeing more of the Bravery than they might have like to have seen anyway. More on that later!
Opening with Meltdown, Ash ripped through quite a set. They did quite a few songs off of “Meltdown”, but threw in enough of the older stuff to keep most of us happy. Stand outs were “Girl From Mars”, “Walking Barefoot” and “Jack Names the Planets”! I guess I could be picky and complain that they didn’t play “Envy”, but nevertheless, I was more than pleased with the selection for songs.
During the encore they were joined by Dirk of the Bravery who for some reason had intimated that he’d like to get naked on stage, which he managed to do last night. Guess that inspired someone from the audience who then decided to go topless on stage! I wonder if anyone got a photo of her hugging Charlotte (who continued to play without missing a beat)! Certainly was an interesting sight to behold.
The band and the audience both seemed to highly enjoy themselves. Can’t wait for them to roll through town again.
