Review

And so we march into Europe, and no better place to start but in the Motherland, and it’s capital of decadence, Hamburg. Today we fly in and meet up with the crew having taken a few days off for a needed rest after our UK exploits.

Germany was starting to really take off for us after Free All Angels but amazingly this is our first show on Mainland Europe for well over 2 years. This leg of gigs are kind of Promo shows, lots of press/radio/TV is arranged and a good percentage of the tickets have been bought for journos and our new label EastWest.

Logo is a cool venue, our first time here and it’s great to know the few hundred tickets made available to the public sold out almost instantly. German fans are a fiercely loyal bunch. Whenever you see old pictures of The Beatles in Hamburg those, believe it or not are actually colour photos, it’s just that it’s so grey and gloomy here they look black and white. It makes me sad to know the locals have never seen the sun.

Leif’s influence is starting to rub off on Lance our sound man. He has adopted the role of a ‘magic person’ called Bruno. Bruno is a huge African American with a booming bass voice who likes to get high and ‘fuck shit up’. Interesting. The show goes well and everyone seems to love the new material, it looks set to be a great night out in Hamburg until Tav receives a sudden phone call informing him his younger brother has tragically died of a heart attack. Tav obviously heads straight home on the next flight and everyone is stunned. All our prayers go out to Tav and his family. We head out for a few sombre drinks a local Irish bar and it’s back to a hotel as we have a full day of press tomorrow.
