I Want You to Know
Oh baby
Oh baby
Oh baby, are you sad and lonely?
Well I’m just doing fine (I want you to know)
That never is an open season
To kick you when you’re done (I want you to know)
That there’s a sucker born every minute
So now your covers blown (I want you to know)
Baby do you know how it can feel
To be all on your own? (I want you to)
(Then they’ll turn on you)
Oh it’s true
Feel like a Chinese burn
All over you
Well-a well-a
Feel you like karaoke-o
Baby do you cry with laughter?
Or are you cracking up? (I want you to know)
Baby did I leave you in stitches?
Splitting at the sides? (I want you to know)
Baby did you pull the punchline?
Did you bust a gut? (I want you to know)
That baby this will end with your tears
And isn’t that a scream? (I want you to-)
(Then they’ll turn on you)
Oh it’s true
Feel like a Chinese burn
On top of you
Well-a well-a
Feel you like karaoke-o
Another fear, fear
Another fear has gone away
Another love, love
Another love is here to stay
I know you know
It’s true
So what you gonna do? (Awoo)
I know you know
It’s true
So what you gonna do? (Awoo)
Doo wah
Doo wah
Doo wah
Doo wah
(Then they’ll turn on you)
Oh it’s true
Feel like a Chinese burn
All over you
Well-a well-a
Feel you like karaoke-o
Another fear, fear
Another fear has gone away
Another love, love
Another love is here to stay
Oh baby
Oh baby
Song Notes
Charlotte said of the song:
“I Want You to Know” is a pop-remnant from the fall out of Grey Will Fade. I guess I see it as a half way house between the old style and the new album. The rest of the record is really quite different, although the harmonies and arrangements of all the songs share a certain weirdness. I’m glad it’s a grower. I like music that takes you to unexpected places where you have to listen a few times before you really know it and love it.
