Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year has come
Brought so many changes
All we know is strange
But changes to our lives
Changes to our lives
The trail of turmoil left
In the wake of the dragon
The figure across the sky
And out of our lives
Out of our lives
So many changes
So many changes
For the good
The Chinese New Year has come
And brought with it new meanings
Vanishing up feelings
I’ll just let it go
I’ll just let it go
In its trail, the dragon’s tail
Left a wake our turmoil
The figure out of the cosmos
And out of our lives
Out of our lives
So many changes
So many changes
Last days of pain
They fade and wait
Now nothing that I say
Could hurt you in any way
The Chinese New Year has come
And brought so many changes
Changes to our lives
I’ll just let it slide
I’ll just let it slide
The trail of turmoil left
In the wake of the dragon
The figure across the sky
And out of our lives
Out of our lives
Original Lyrics
The Chinese New Year has come
Brought so many changes
Oh so many changes
Changes to our lives
Changes to our lives
In its trail, a dragons tail
Left a wake our turmoil
The figure out of the cosmos
And out of our lives
Out of our lives
So many changes
So many changes
For good
The Chinese New Year has come
Brought with it changes
Oh to many changes
I’ll just let it go
I’ll just let it go
A trail of turmoil
Left in the wake of the dragon
The figure out of the cosmos
And out of our lives
Out of our lives
Song Notes
“Chinese New Year” is a delicate and fragile song, with a simple arpeggio guitar. The song remained unreleased for nearly seven years, it was originally written during the Free All Angels sessions and was played live at several acoustic shows in 2001. You can hear Tim playing part of the song in the “Road Trip” video on the DVD single for “Burn Baby Burn”. The song was eventually recorded as a B-side to the “Polaris” single. The new version features slightly different lyrics, a bridge and another guitar part over the acoustic guitar.
