13th Floor
It’s an unlucky number
But you’re here to stay
A black cloud that you’re under
Everything out of phase
Can you feel the vibrations
Feel them getting strange
Sudden surface convulsions
Staying up for days
When the 13th floor shakes
Your mind disintegrates
Your young heart thrilled
And rotten to the core
Need another fix
Of psychedelic kicks
Staying up here on the 13th floor
You know you’ll never fit in
Don’t even try to begin
Up here you check out
As soon as you check in
You know it’s like a poison
It’ll get you pinned
The 13th floor baby
Gets under your skin
When the 13th floor shakes
Your mind disintegrates
Your young heart thrilled
And rotten to the core
Need another fix
Of psychedelic kicks
Staying up here on the 13th floor

Your young heart thrilled
And rotten to the core
Need another fix
Of psychedelic kicks
Take this trip, you’ll never get bored
Come up to my floor
I’ll let you in the door
You will get to see
What state I’m in at all
I’ve been up for weeks
Hanging with the freaks
Staying up here on the 13th floor
Song Notes
The recorded version of this song comes from a BBC Radio 1 Evening session.
According to Rick the song is inspired by a spooky hotel in Nagoya, Japan:
The whole 13th floor was closed off and the lift wouldn’t go to it. We sneaked up to it via a fire escape. Lots of bouquets outside every door. I was very drunk.
