Hold Your Nerve
The video is a dark yet theatrical production that leans into the doom-tinged rock aesthetic of the song. Directed by Anthony Neale, it features Rick McMurray chained to a gate fence and Ash bassist Mark Hamilton in a prominent acting role as a character known as “The Reaper Cop,” adding a touch of macabre humour to the visuals.
The video balances gritty, atmospheric performance shots of Rick McMurray—stepping out from behind the drums to take centre stage—with surreal, cinematic sequences that reflect the track’s heavy, Black Sabbath-inspired riffs. Filmed with a slightly stylized, moody grit, the video serves as a bold visual introduction to McMurray’s solo project, blending the emotional weight of its inspiration with a playful, classic rock-and-roll rebellion.
The video was filmed during Ash’s February 2026 Ad Astra UK tour, with shooting taking place in Norwich on February 16th. Additional footage was filmed on the 17th in the band’s hotel room and at the Epic Studios venue, where the band were performing that night. The police car used in the video was supplied by Maciej Witucki.
