Over & Out
Strike a blow, start the show
Ripping up the rule book, here I go
Voice of doom from the tomb
Bringing up the bad vibes in the room
Right on cue, coming through
Careful, all you wish for may come true
Every lie that you try
Each of your mistakes will never fly
Every strategy you can’t deny
All consigned to history
Well come on
Your intentions were never in doubt
It doesn’t matter to me now I’m over and out
Fake or true, see right through
Every step I’m miles ahead of you
First to crack, lose your track
You can’t trust yourself so watch your back
Slave to hate, it’s your fate
No surprise, you always take the bait
Off your game, crying shame
As your fantasy goes up in flames
You’ve had all your fifteen minutes fame
Burning up your majesty
Well come on
Your intentions were never in doubt
It doesn’t matter to me now I’m over and out
Ascendancy’s what you’re all about
It doesn’t mean a thing now I’m over and out
Now you’re getting careless
I’ve seen it all before
You’re just an everyday two faced liar
Fighting a pissing war
You’re from a screwed up perspective
So get on out of town
You’re following some sinister directive
It’s gonna bring you down, down, down
So come on
Your intentions were never in doubt
It doesn’t matter to me now I’m over and out
Ascendancy’s what you’re all about
It doesn’t mean a thing now I’m over and out
Aw yeah
It doesn’t mean a thing now I’m over and out
It doesn’t mean a thing now I’m over and out
Song Notes
Tim Wheeler speaking to Talkhouse podcast in December, 2023 said of the track:
I saw Mudhoney in a small venue in Brooklyn, the Market Hotel or something. And it was just so brilliant that they were so good live, probably not that different from what they were in the early ‘90s. It was such a great show to have seen. I went and wrote that riff like a few days later. I was like, “It’s a little bit Mudhoney this, but I don’t care.” It sort of encouraged me to keep going in the rock way, you know?
