Message from Oscar Wilde and Patrick the Brewer

[Oscar Wilde]
And the next sentence is more important
Why didn’t you thank us on your records?
We thought we were your inspiration

[Patrick the Brewer]
We were your your

[Oscar Wilde]
Your leaders

[Patrick the Brewer]
Your healer, breeder, healer, dealer, tailor

[Oscar Wilde]
Your guru

[Patrick the Brewer]
Yeah

[Oscar Wilde]
So on the next record we want to see our names
Thanks to Toilet Lights and Dr. Martens and Patrick the Brewer and Oscar Wilde

[Patrick the Brewer]
Of course we want

[Oscar Wilde]
If you don’t do that, we won’t be your inspiration any more

Song Notes

The track is spoken word and features not music. It is an excerpt from a message recorded on cassette by “Oscar Wilde” and “Patrick the Brewer”, the nicknames that Tim Wheeler had given to two Dutch guys he befriended while on holiday with his family in Alsace, France. Wheeler would then keep in touch with by mail, which included this cassette that imagined the Dutch guys having a long-distance conversation with Wheeler. This message was also later included on the B-side compilation Cosmic Debris.

Another excerpt from the cassette message can be heard as the intro of “Jack Names the Planets”.
