Song Notes
“Like a God” was first listed in issue 2 of Ash fanzine Trashed as a song being worked on for the follow up album to Islands. Mark Hamilton described it as “the heaviest Ash song ever”. The Race the Night album also includes an instrumental reprise version of the track.
The song was released as a digital single on July 19th, 2023. An extended version of the track was released on a limited edition Amazon Exclusive CD of the Race the Night album.
Tim Wheeler said of the track on its release:
“Like a God” pushes the rock aspect of the album to its furthest limits. An ode to sexual apotheosis it revels in a carnal riff played with mantra like repetition before reaching a frenzied climax.
