“Summer” Single Review

It’s becoming vaguely embarrassing now heaping such praise on one artist, but “Summer” - the first single proper from Charlotte Hatherley is a seasonal pop sizzler that marries irresistible punk pop with jerky chopped up chords and periodic splashes of snarling guitar mayhem, and we can’t help but be utterly charmed by it.
Producer Eric Drew Feldman has worked with artists with a similar creative ethic and objective (i.e. Pixies and their main man Frank Black), and his keyboard contributions are also integral to making this as irresistible as it is. “Summer” is a devastatingly catchy number where the author is hoping upon hope that things will get better. It might also be the first record to ever mention “Serotonin, and the vitamin C, D & E” all in the same sentence. Go on, breathe it in and breathe it out.
