Ash To Headline Headstock Festival

Thursday, July 29th, 2010 | Comments Off

Ash will head the line up at this year’s new Headstock Festival held on September 11th at the Newstead and Annesley Country Park, 9 miles north of Nottingham. Headstock is being put on by the community of Newstead Village as part of the Big Lottery Fund and BBC’s Village SOS initiative which is being filmed for a major new prime time BBC One television series.

Other acts already confirmed for the Main Stage and Muzika! Big Top are The Beat, Field Music, Penguin Café Orchestra, and Edward II. Headstock Festival will also feature top DJ’s in two dance arenas – the DIY/Smokescreen Soundsystem playing a range of deep and underground house music and UDS/Desert Storm featuring cutting edge DJ’s playing drum and bass, gabba, techno, jungle and breakcore. The music line up is completed by the Orange Tree chill out tent which will feature regional bands and acoustic acts in a chilled out environment.

The Newstead and Annesley Country Park is a 220 acre site of exceptional natural beauty, currently being developed as a sustainable eco-sensitive public park, located on what was formerly the villages coal mine. The Park is conveniently located 200 yards from Newstead train station and 15 minutes from Junction 27 of the M1. East Midlands Trains will be running late trains during the evening of the 11th.

Early bird tickets are priced at £20. Camping is also available overlooking the main arena and is priced at £5. Further details can be found on headstockfestival.com and tickets are on sale via wegottickets.com.

Russell Lissack To Join For UK Tour

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 | Comments Off

New Ash touring guitarist Russell Lissack

Ash have today announced the recruitment of Russell Lissack for their forthcoming UK Tour. Russell will bolster the 3 piece on guitars and keyboards, for a tour that now includes an extra London show at Koko on 6th May.

Russell – of Bloc Party and solo project Pin Me Down – is a life long Ash fan, “I’ve always loved Ash, my first ever stage performance was part of an Ash covers band, so when they asked me to join them on their forthcoming tour I jumped at the chance!”

Tim Wheeler, “We first met at the South By South West in 2005, we’d heard he and Kele Okereke met when Russell was playing Ash songs at a party, so we’ve always felt that connection with him. We’ve loved Bloc Party since their first single and have always really admired his guitar playing.”

Ash’s tour coincides with the release of their compilation A – Z Volume 1 on 19th April. The compilation marks the halfway point in Ash’s groundbreaking 26 single campaign, the A-Z Series. Wrapping up singles A to M alongside a host of bonus material, the compilation illustrates Ash’s rejuvenated creative zeal. It is also available in a limited edition CD/DVD format featuring the ’50-minute A-Z tour documentary’ A is For Ash.
