Ash are backing a new campaign to make ticket touting illegal, here’s what the band have to say:
There’s a pretty concerted effort being made to ban ticket touting. We detest these scum as they rip off you the fans by buying large quantities of tickets and then reselling them at hiked up prices. There’s apparently nothing the promoters can do about it but if it’s made illegal then perhaps more of they will be prosecuted. It’ll probably fall on deaf ears but it will be worth 20 seconds of your time to sign the petition if there’s a remote chance it’ll make a difference.

Ash have announced a brand spanking new on-line merchandise store run by MAM. All the merchandise from the band’s current Higher Education Tour is avaliable for purchase worldwide, along with a few older classic retro designs, including a repressing of the infamous orange 1977 t-shirt that was a big hit back in 1996.
The band have added a big thanks to artist Keith Noordzy who came up with the rather brilliant looking Hellboyz T-shirt and stickers design.
The band have also announced that the logo used on current tour adverts and on the new official site will indeed be the bands new logo, Mark said of the logo:
I think it’s quite obvious from the designs and website header that we’ve decided to stick with the new ‘block style’ logo. It wasn’t our favorite choice initially but it’s grown on us and the Warners creative department really want us to use it, so we have let them have their way with that one.
The rather excentic Kino cornered Tim with his video camera in New York a few weeks ago and did a bit of an impromptu interview. Check out Tim’s dog.
Tim Wheeler has joined Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray in backing a new Northern Irish pop base in Belfast, as the building known as ‘Oh Yeah’ prepares to open. Read more on NME.com. Ash had this to say of the project:
Back home there’s a great new project being set up in Belfast to help emerging talent from N. Ireland.
It’s been named Oh Yeah and our friend Stuart Bailie from ALT who founded the idea has been spearheading the non-profit making initiative.
Head over to the new OH YEAH WEBSITE to check out the ambitious plans and if you feel inclined buy a T-shirt, all proceeds will be going towards setting up this amazing and much needed creative center, which will include a recording studio, rehearsal rooms, a performance area, music industry offices, training suites and a multi-media center.
Stu was over in New York just before Christmas and called into the studio to interview Tim for a new BBC documentary on Northern Irish music. You can see a pic of Stu and Tim from that day and a quote from Tim on the project in this scan from their promotional booklet.” – Ash
According to what Ash drummer Rick McMurray said in January, the video for yet unconfirmed new single should taking place today. (February 5th). The plan then was to film it in New York or somewhere close by, with Jeff Thomas who did the ‘Burn Baby Burn’, ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Orpheus’ videos as Ash feel that they work really well with him.
Walking Barefoot would like to wish Ash frontman Tim Wheeler a very happy 30th birthday.
Here’s a quick update from Ash bassist Mark Hamilton about what’s happening in the Ash camp.
“A pre-album tour will be announced soon and we’ll start ‘leaking’ stuff in Jan. It just seems right to wait until in the new year.”
“Things are going ahead with the new website. We’re getting Warners to install the Vbulletin software then we’ll get cracking on getting it up and running.”
