Race the Night

Midnight comes, I miss that girl already
Always enigmatic, ever so unsteady
Playing it shy, who’s the lucky guy
Waiting for their heart to melt?

Eyes of mercury, whisper stormy weather
On the Riviera we’ll get lost together
I am aiming high, I’m not scared to try
See how the cards are dealt

So open up your heart and take a guess
The only real answer right now is yes
Tell me that I’m right, don’t run into the night
We are two of a kind

Race the night and I will follow
Before first light, while there is time
Before the shadows let us go
And it’s too late to race the night

(Race the night)

Not long past you were last a stranger
One fatal glance put our hearts in danger
What you got to hide? Who’s your alibi?
How come our stars aligned?

Baby it’s too late, now we’re in deep trouble
At this hour we know the price is double
What you got to lose? Now’s the time to choose
If you want to be mine

Race the night and I will follow
Before first light, while there is time
Before the shadows let us go
And it’s too late to race the night

Race the night, race the night

Race the night and I will follow
Before first light, while there is time
Before the shadows let us go
And it’s too late to race
The night

(Race the night) Race the night
(Race the night) Race the night
(Race the night) Race the night
(Race the night)

Tim Wheeler said of the song upon it’s release:

““Race the Night” is the sound of the band revelling in the sheer joy of being a band after being separated by time and distance through the insanity of the early 2020s. Lyrically it’s all about seizing the crossroads moments in life with both hands. Take every chance as if it could be your last.”
